A Guide To Diamond Quality
Just like snowflakes, every diamond possesses unique and distinctive characteristics that make it one-of-a-kind. To evaluate a diamond’s quality, the industry standard looks at the 4Cs: cut, color, clarity, and carat weight.
Cut
Cut is determined by how a diamond’s facets interact with light- this is where the Fire & Ice difference lies.
Color
Color refers to the level of the natural tint found in white diamonds.
Clarity
Clarity is determined by the purity and natural inclusions of the diamond.
Carat Weight
Carat weight refers to the measured weight of a diamond.

More than any other factor of the 4Cs, cut is critical to how a diamond’s facets interact with light. Fire & Ice Diamonds, from the smallest to the largest, are always cut to precise angles to prioritize brilliance over carat weight.

While many diamonds are spread too shallow or cut too deep to retain weight from the original rough — at a dramatic sacrifice of potential Brilliance, Fire and Scintillation — all Fire & Ice Diamonds are cut to precise angles and proportions to maximize the radiant light and sparkle that emerge from the top.
Bigger
The precise angles of Fire & Ice Diamond facets give it the largest diameter possible while efficiently reflecting light through the top. This allows the diamond to avoid light leakage and the “fisheye” effect while appearing larger than most other GIA Excellent and AGS Ideal cut diamonds of the same weight.
Light Performance
The human eye cannot see weight. What the eye perceives is size and light performance.
Brighter
When cut to Fire & Ice proportions, the light entering a diamond from any direction is completely reflected through the top as white light (Brilliance), dispersed rainbow colors (Fire), and sparkling flashes (Scintillation). Inside the diamond, the facets act as mirrors — and the secret is the careful arrangement of these facets which achieve maximum Brilliance balanced by Fire and accented by Scintillation.
Whiter
The immense Brilliance of the Fire & Ice diamond is the result of white light reflected through the top of the diamond. This is what allows a Fire & Ice Diamond to appear one or two color grades better than its actual GIA color classification.
